ABOUT JULIA

You’re exhausted from holding it all together on the outside while feeling untethered on the inside. Maybe you lie awake replaying conversations, second-guessing every decision, or wondering why anxiety, sadness, or irritability keep showing up no matter how “together” your life looks from the outside. Big changes—moves, career shifts, becoming a parent, a breakup or loss, a new diagnosis—have left you feeling like you don’t quite recognize yourself, and you’re tired of white-knuckling your way through.

In our work, I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down and explore the parts of you that feel overwhelmed, stuck, or ashamed, so you don’t have to keep pushing them away or managing them alone. Together we’ll look at the patterns you’re stuck in, like people pleasing, over-functioning, or feeling small in relationships, and connect them to your past and to unconscious feelings that may be quietly shaping how you move through the world.

As a psychodynamic and relational therapist, I pay close attention to how your history shows up in the present, including in the therapy room, and we use that insight to help you reconnect with your authentic self and what you truly want. I have experience working with people navigating depression, anxiety, chronic illness, grief, and complicated relationship dynamics, and my goal is to help you feel more grounded, more honest with yourself, and more like you in your everyday life.

CLINICAL APPROACH

I primarily utilize a psychodynamic and relational approach to therapy while implementing tools from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I use these approaches together so we can work on both deep understanding and real-life change. Psychodynamic and relational therapy help us uncover and shift long-standing patterns, while CBT offers concrete tools to experiment with new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating in your daily life. Please find more information below:

Psychodynamic therapy

Psychodynamic therapy helps us explore how your past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious feelings may be shaping what you’re struggling with now. We pay attention to recurring themes, emotional patterns, and the parts of you that feel conflicted, with the goal of understanding and gently shifting long-standing dynamics so you can feel more free and more like yourself.

Relational therapy

Relational therapy focuses on how you relate to others and how those patterns show up between us in the therapy room. By paying close attention to your feelings, needs, and boundaries in real time, we use our relationship as a safe place to understand old wounds, practice new ways of being with others, and experience a more authentic, supportive connection.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT looks at the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how certain patterns can keep anxiety, low mood, or shame in place. Together, we identify unhelpful beliefs, experiment with new ways of thinking and responding, and build concrete coping tools you can use day-to-day while we also hold space for the deeper emotional layers of your experience.

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable and uncertain, especially if you’re used to handling things on your own. I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about what you’re going through. Contact me
