Therapy for New Parents

Becoming a parent can be one of the most significant transitions in a person's life. Alongside love, joy, and connection, many new parents find themselves navigating exhaustion, anxiety, uncertainty, changes in their relationships, and a sense that they no longer have the same time, energy, or space for themselves.

You may feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of caring for another person while also trying to maintain your relationships, career, identity, and well-being. You may find yourself wondering why something you wanted so deeply can also feel so difficult at times. Grieving parts of your life that have changed, even while feeling grateful for the family you've built, can feel overwhelming.

Becoming a parent can also lead you to think differently about your own childhood. Experiences that once felt settled or distant may take on new meaning as you navigate your relationship with your child and consider the kind of parent you want to be.

Therapy offers an opportunity to make sense of this transition and the challenges that often accompany it. Together, we'll explore the emotional, relational, and practical realities of becoming a parent while creating space for your own needs, thoughts, and feelings.

As that understanding develops, many people find it becomes easier to navigate uncertainty, manage anxiety, adjust to changes in identity, and approach parenthood with greater confidence and self-compassion.
